Abstracts with sufficient merits will be selected to via for the JAMA-NUHS CME Best Poster Awards. There will be three categories: |
|
o |
Diabetes |
|
o |
Obesity |
|
o |
Metabolic Syndrome |
| • |
A final panel of four judges which comprises of representatives from JAMA, NUHS and invited speakers will be judging the posters during Day One tea break and lunch sessions. |
| • |
Other abstracts will be invited to display their posters at the conference. |
| • |
Please check the appropriate box when submitting your abstract if you do not wish to compete for the award. |
| • |
All accepted abstracts will be printed on the conference abstract handbook. |
| • |
Late abstracts will not be considered for presentation, competition, and will not be published in the abstract handbook. |

The person submitting the abstract identifies the author as the Presenting Author. |
| • |
The Presenting Author will serve as the primary contact on the abstract. |
| • |
The Presenting Author must be either the first or second author listed on the submitted abstract. |
| • |
The Presenting Author will be the main point of contact for information regarding the submission and is responsible for the following: |
|
o |
Forwarding acceptance/rejection of the abstract to all authors. |
|
o |
Ensuring that all authors have read the abstract and agreed to be co-authors. Failure to get approval from all authors will result in rejection of the abstract. |
|
o |
Notifying all co-authors of any additions, deletions and changes to the program in a timely manner. |
|

Accepted authors are expected to pay their own travel expenses and conference registration fee(s). |
|
| • |
Abstracts describing original basic and clinical work related to the broad area of diabetes, obesity and /or metabolic syndrome may be submitted. |

If data contained in the submitted abstract has been presented or accepted for presentation at another meeting by the submission deadline of 30 June 2008, this must be indicated on the abstract submission form by checking the box indicating "prior presentation". |

An abstract is ineligible for consideration if it reports work that has already been published prior to the submission deadline of 30 June 2008. |

Abstracts must be submitted in English only. |
| • |
The word limit is 250 (excluding Title, Authors and Affiliations). |

Title should be brief, clearly indicating the nature of the presentation. |
|
o |
When entering your title online, use mixed case (do not use all caps), and do not put a period at the end of the title. |

Do NOT include figures, graphs, tables or references in the abstract. |

The abstract is preferred to be structured according to (1) Introduction; (2) Methods; (3) Results; and (4) Conclusion. |

Système international d’unités (SI units) should be used for measurements. |

Use standard abbreviations. Place special or unusual abbreviations in parentheses after the first time the full word appears. |

o |
Do not begin sentences with a numeric figure. Numbers should be spelt out in words if they lead a sentence. |
